My Own Little Version of the Movie “Tow”

After watching the movie Tow, I never expected to experience my own much smaller version of its story when I returned to Seattle and discovered that my Honda had been towed three weeks earlier without my knowing it, leaving me with a bill of more than $1,000 and an almost comical adventure just trying to get my car out of the impound lot. The experience was frustrating and expensive, but it also gave me a glimpse of how an impersonal bureaucratic system can become devastating for someone living on the edge, reminding me that what was an enormous inconvenience for me can mean the loss of transportation, shelter, security, and nearly everything a more vulnerable person owns.
