I’m deeply fascinated by Slab City, a unique, unincorporated community in the California desert, where I’ve been visiting multiple times a year for the last 15 years, drawn by its off-the-grid lifestyle and ever-changing population. Despite its challenges, like the lack of basic amenities and its proximity to a military practice range, I find a visit to Slab City a reflective and meditative experience, offering a different perspective every time. The community, featured in various movies and home to an unconventional library, represents a stark contrast to conventional living, embodying a spirit of freedom and anarchy.
