A View of Gaza – 60 Years Earlier

In this heartfelt remembrance from 60 years ago, I reflect on my experience in the Gaza Strip during Operation Crossroads Africa. I feel tremendous gratitude for my grandmother’s encouraging letters at that time and lament the lack of awareness in America about the Middle East, particularly the distorted coverage of the Israeli-Palestinian conflict. The emotional impact of witnessing the refugee camps and the Palestinians’ displaced lives, coupled with a somber prediction of inevitable war, adds depth to the narrative, emphasizing the enduring need for understanding amid the tragic circumstances in Gaza.
