When one of my grandchildren asked, “Gramps, do you want to play?” I realized how rarely adults use that word, even when we are doing things we enjoy. Whether we are hunting for shells, playing charades, or simply being silly together, my grandchildren remind me that play needs no purpose beyond the pleasure of sharing it.
