The recent report by U.S. Surgeon General Dr. Vivek Murthy reveals that loneliness is as harmful as smoking 15 cigarettes a day, doubling the risk of premature death and significantly increasing the risk of heart disease, stroke, dementia, depression, and anxiety. To combat this, Dr. Murthy suggests fostering meaningful social interactions and community-based initiatives. At the Edge Foundation, we are committed to addressing this by training adults to become one-on-one coaches for youth, promoting a culture of connection and mutual support.
