The Trouble With Painted Toenails

When my young granddaughters decided my toenails needed a makeover, I happily surrendered and let them turn my feet into a colorful mix of red and purple, creating a wonderful memory I will treasure. The trouble is, weeks later the polish is still there, leaving me caught between loving what those painted toes remind me of and desperately wanting them gone—if only I could bring myself to walk into a nail salon and explain the whole thing.
