I never expected apricots to become one of the highlights of my journey through Austria’s Wachau Valley, but they seemed to define the entire region. From my first apricot ice cream cone to strudel, soap, and hand cream, I embraced the experience and came to realize that some of life’s greatest pleasures are deeply rooted in a particular place—you do not take them home with you, you simply savor them while you are there.
