I went to a women’s roller derby bout in Palm Springs expecting a nostalgic throwback, but instead I found something vibrant, affordable, and full of heart. I was struck by the packed crowd, the bring-your-own-chair spirit, and the passion of athletes competing not for pay, but for the love of the sport.
