One Surprising Way to Boost Your Health: Turn Up the Heat

I recently learned at a Stanford “Healthy Aging 2025” conference that intentionally raising my core body temperature—whether through a hot shower, tub soak, or especially a sauna—can boost cardiovascular health, lower inflammation, sharpen my mood and cognition, and even support longevity. Growing up with Scandinavian roots and living on a floating home in Seattle, I’ve embraced this practice nightly in my hot tub and now even dream of renting a floating sauna on Lake Union—a simple, deliberate dose of warmth that feels not indulgent, but profoundly beneficial.
