
I recently scheduled my yearly check‐up expecting a full, thoughtful exam—but instead got a rushed 30‐minute appointment where none of the outside medical records I painstakingly sent ahead had been reviewed, my list of 21 priorities wasn’t touched, and preventative suggestions were flatly dismissed. I realized the system forces patients like me to do all the work just to be heard, and that unless “annual check-ups” are rethought—both in time allotment and in how doctors prepare—many will walk away frustrated rather than reassured.
